Ragdoll Cats | Rag Doll Cats

Ragdoll cats are large cats that are typically laidback. They are one of the largest breeds of domestic cats and have been listed in the Guiness Book of World Records for their size. The name “Ragdoll” comes from the way a Ragdoll cat has a tendency to flop like a child’s ragdoll when the cat is in a relaxed state. This relaxed cat breed is affectionate. Ragdoll cats often seek out attention from their owners. Many Ragdoll cats are happy to spend time with their owner whether it is during play or sleep.

The Ragdoll cat breed started with the same domestic cats as the RagaMuffin cat. Though the RagaMuffin cat has not been accepted as its own breed, the Ragdoll cat is a recognized breed. There are some distinct physical differences between Ragdoll cats and RagaMuffin cats.

The relatively large head of the Ragdoll cat appears flat in the area between the ears. The neck and body are heavy. Though Ragdoll cats are solid and thick, they should not be fat. They should be firm and muscular.

The eyes of Ragdoll cats are vivid blue. The coat of the Ragdoll is semi-long. Ragdoll cats are pointed, meaning the hair on the tail, legs, ears, and face are darker than the rest of the body. The coats of Ragdoll cats needs regular combing with a steel comb.

They can be bi-color, van, mitted, or color-pointed. Mitted Ragdoll cats have white front feet and white hind legs. The stomach and chin are white. Often, parts of the nose and forehead are white. The van coloring has darker coloring on the top of the mask, ears, and tail. Cats with van coloring may have other areas with darker coloring. Bi-color Ragdoll cats are largely white. The stomach, legs, stomach, chest, and an upside-down V on the face are all white. Color-pointed Ragdoll cats have no white on their bodies.

The Ragdoll cat can weigh up to twenty pounds. The Ragdoll cat is slow to mature. The coat coloring matures at two years and the cat becomes full grown at four years of age.
